Why are we doing this study?

We want to improve women’s experience of labour and birth by ensuring women have important and relevant information given to them prior to making the decision to have a vaginal birth. There are lots of aspects and key points about vaginal delivery that women are not aware of prior to going through labour. Being unaware of these aspects, or risks, of labour mean that women may not be able to make completely informed decisions about their care. If women are not prepared for their experiences of vaginal birth, then this can lead to an increase in trauma and negative birth experiences. By giving women the key information about vaginal birth, we hope that they can be better informed to make decisions about vaginal birth, leading to less unexpected experiences, and greater satisfaction with their labour and birth.
